Death

Death Sketch
In my meditation, I was travelling in a car with my husband on a winding, mountainous road. On our left was a deep canyon with the river way below. On our right was the limestone cliff-face. We came around a sweeping right-hand bend and had to correct the steering quickly to avoid going over the cliff. I could see over the edge and down into the river. I got quite a fright but I was thinking how lucky we were to have made it safely around the bend.

This bend was followed by another one in the opposite direction – a tight left-hand bend and we just couldn’t make it. We headed straight for the limestone cliff wall. A voice said, “This is what it’s like when we die!” I felt afraid! We crashed into the rock wall of the cliff face and I seemed to easily go right into the limestone and I wondered at the time whether it was really not stone but just loose sand.

We immediately seemed to move upwards a bit. Then I realised that there was something extending out from my Solar Plexus that seemed to be attached to something down below and was stopping me from continuing to move upwards. I gave a sharp tug to it and it gave way. Then I could see what looked like two tree roots coming out of my Solar Plexus – joined at first then dividing into two roots.

I was holding my husband’s hand and I said, “OK, we’re dead, so let’s go.”

He was more hesitant and he said, “Are you sure we’re dead?”

I said, “Yep, We’re dead. So come on, let’s go.” Then we moved upwards together.

I realised that it was only the part just before the crash that caused any trauma for me. After that everything was quite peaceful and straightforward.
